Physical Activity Participation
We have a student that in previous years was hesitant to participate in physical education and during physical activity, classroom breaks and outdoor recess. Last year he signed up for Fuel Up to Play 60 and started to learn about why it was so important to be physically active and how dairy could help him stay active and be healthy. He ended up joining the Running Club and Walking Club last year and loved it. While he was not the fastest in Running Club or Walking Club, that was never his goal. His goal was to become more active and to live a healthier lifestyle. This year he signed up for the Running Club again and is working on his FUTP 60 account. His dad has joined as a volunteer and both of them are participating in our 5K events on Saturdays now! Just last week, this student came up to me and asked, "Is it okay if I run?" during an activity we were teaching during physical education. What a wonderful question to hear from this student, considering he was hesitant to participate in an activity just two years ago. What amazing growth!

How did you accomplish your goals?

The goal was accomplished by hard work, being supportive, and delivering a consistent message to our students. Our administration and downtown administration were also very supportive in seeing this goal met.
