Community Involvement

Our Fuel Up to Play 60 leaders organized a very special community service program with Elm Grove Elementary and Easter Seals. Easter Seals is a nonprofit organization that works with the disabled community. By working together with the community, our school learned about helping others. They also raised money that will be put towards promoting physical activity and nutrition at Elm Grove! Our students learned how to be heroes with a HEART! Our school raised $425 and helped Easter Seals! It was a win-win situation for all!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We accomplished our goal by working together with the entire school and the community. We set our money raised goal at $175 and raised $425.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The leaders are meeting to locate and purchase the items for recess. They are deciding which items would be best for all students. The items are things that all students can use this year and in the coming years.

How did you accomplish your goals?

The entire school worked to gather clothes and items to donate and drop off at school. Student leaders worked with Easter Seals and other adults to load the Easter Seals' truck with over 2,000 pounds of clothing.
