Physical Activity Participation

The 4th and 5th graders are starting a walking club during recess. A couple of the students wanted to start a club and track their steps with pedometers. The pedometers were given to the students that were participating in the Ramp Up for Recess Play.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

I signed a couple new students up for FUTP 60 after taking a physical education assessment. The students immediately wanted to make a difference in their school and thought that using pedometers at recess would be a way to include all students.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We feel that making recess more enjoyable and getting more students active will help with our school's overall wellness. Our 4th and 5th graders are the students that tend to do less physical activity. Pedometers will improve our activity levels.
