Jump for 30 Minutes
Our school decided to put a play in place every day for a whole week instead of over a 4-week period because it worked best with our school schedule. Every day, a class came down to the gym to either shoot hoops or jump rope for a full 30 minutes! It was a lot of fun and the gym teacher is looking at how we can incorporate more movement into our daily and weekly schedule.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

This Play took a lot of communication and flexibility with the teachers and administration. We even got the teachers involved with their class each day in order to include it as instructional time. It worked really well.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are looking at trying to incorporate this into our regular school day every other week, or at least one time a month in the near future.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

The students are requesting to jump rope during their gym time! They have even asked if they can stay after school to use the gym and jump rope. It's a simple idea that has good heart benefits, but they don't even realize it because they are having fun.
