Hortonville Elementary was super excited to have the “Jump with Jill” concert event come to our school on March 6, 2019.
Our “Fueling HES” team leaders took a huge leadership role in getting all our staff and students pumped up for this event by doing morning announcements on Nutrition and Exercise fact/tips. Our team leaders held meetings to discuss how we would incorporate the Wisconsin Dairy Farmers into this concert. They decided to invite 2 retired farmers in our area, both of whom replied that they would love to see the show! During the show, “Jill” honored the two by mentioning their names and thanking them for all their hard work over the years. It was a humbling experience. Our students love these two farmers!
My team leaders helped organize the gym set up prior to the concert as well. There were tables set up at each exit for all staff and students to file through after the concert with no troubles at all. The “Jump with Jill” show as so entertaining for all staff and students. “Jill and DJ Nick” educated everyone on the importance of good nutrition and exercise habits through fun songs and dance moves. This is a show that our staff and students continue to talk about.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Our "Fuel HES" team leaders and the "Jump with Jill" staff communicated so well prior to the concert to make sure that everyone would be interacting with both Jill and DJ nick. My team helped to form 2 sides with an isle down the middle to allow for Jill and Nick to walk down. Jill and Nick both told me that our team leaders did an outstanding job!
What improvements have you seen at your school?
This concert helped to rev up the Fuel Up to Play 60 program itself. Hortonville Elementary has been doing FUTP 60 events for over 5 yeas. The concert like this one, helped to make our program here more exciting and meaningfull.
