Kahoa "Physical Activity Break"

Here at Kahoa Elementary school, we partnered with some university student-athletes to make an in-class physical activity break video. Our 4 student Ambassadors, Program Advisor & 4 college athletes all met one day to make the video. Our PE teacher/Program Advisor taught the 4th & 5th grade Ambassadors how to edit the video and make it. The college athletes then came back another day, met with our student Ambassadors & went into classrooms for surprise physical activity breaks where they did the video with them. It was a great experience for all with lots of learning, physical activity, meeting new people & working as a team.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Our four student Ambassadors, Program Advisor and four college athletes all met one day to make the video. Our PE teacher/Program Advisor taught the fourth and fifth grade Ambassadors how to edit the video and make it.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan to make this video available to all classroom teachers in the building so that they can use it whenever they want. We have a dropbox where the video will be located so that it is easy access for staff.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The main challenge in doing this was making the arrangements when everyone could get together. We all have different schedule, so about 50 emails were exchanged to make it work.
