Kickoff and Poster Contest

During our annual kickoff, we decided to introduce a healthy foods poster contest as part of our "Highlight Healthy Foods - Everywhere in School" Play. We also included a banner with the Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP 60) pledge for students and faculty to sign.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are planning to move the posters around the school so all of the students are exposed to the healthy foods displayed on them.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Having a poster contest is fun, but the creative differences of students in grades K-5 vary greatly. We decided to give each student who submitted a poster a FUTP 60 wrist band and they are entered into a raffle for a FUTP 60 prize pack. The raffles even the field for winning a prize.

How did you accomplish your goals?

The posters we received are great and are being displayed in many of places in the school. The banner we made with the FUTP 60 pledge was also signed by almost all of our 690 students and some faculty. The banner is in the hallway to the P.E and bus areas so the students are reminded everyday about the program and their pledge.
