Kids in the Kitchen
On February 18th, we teamed up after school with our School Chef and Food Service Director. We had kids sign up to make smoothies with our FUTP 60 Team and Food Service. Chef Abby taught the kids all about nutrition that comes from yogurt and the fruits we used to make the smoothies. The kids had to pick their favorite from Strawberry Lemonade, Berry Blast, and Pineapple Twist.  The kids were in charge of following the ingredient cards and measuring everything out to create their wonderful concoctions. The favorite ending up being Strawberry Lemonade.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We had to team up to pick a date and assign job duties. We then had to order all the supplies for the event. It was a huge success!

How did you accomplish your goals?

By working together towards a common goal of getting as many students safely in the kitchen and feeding them the nutritious smoothies. We communicated by parent e-mails and a flyer went home to with the kids.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Due to the overwhelming success of the program, we will be teaming up each month to do another "Kids in the Kitchen" event, from making cheesy pizzas, to grilled cheese experiments, to other healthy concoctions.
