Learning More About Fresh Vegetables
The students had an opportunity to see first hand the fresh vegetables that are being served in their school. The New North Florida Cooperative had a taste test for students at Hamilton County Elementary School in October. The students saw the raw product and were able to enjoy fresh cooked Collard Greens, Green Beans, and Sweet Potato Cubes. Another raw product on display was Butternut Squash, a vegetable not common in our community but was easily recognized by some of the students.

How did you accomplish your goals?

The students were allowed to come on the stage to receive a sample of the product during lunch periods. The goal was to have all students sample at least one vegetable. All students sampled the product and some even asked for seconds of their favorite vegetable.
