Physical Activity Participation

At the beginning of the school year, while the Summer Olympics were occurring, we held a school wide Olympics.  5th through 8th grade competed and kindergarten through 4th grade competed. We had events such as hula hoops, basketball, running, relay race, discus throw, and long jump. The older kids got to spend all morning competing and the younger kids all afternoon. Many family members throughout the community came to watch. The students loved being able to have fun and be active as well as compete with their peers. It was a day full of activities.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Had to make sure administration and all teachers were okay with giving up their class time. Weather was also a factor involved as this was an outside event. Some students did not want to participate in every event, and we told them that was okay.
