Gilbert Middle School started a school walking program. When students arrive daily, they go to the gymnasium and begin walking instead of sitting. To make it competitive, both 8th grade classes split up into four teams and compete by keeping track of their steps and miles. At the end of the week, the winning team receives a free period of Physical Education. This has motivated the students to stay active and healthy.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Walking is a lifetime fitness endeavor. This is something that they can continue throughout their lifetime to remain active and healthy.
