Lincoln School participated in our second annual Turkey and Tamale Trot on Nov. 19th, 2018. It was a big hit with the students that attended, including our Lincoln Girls on the Run Club and Intramurals Sports Club! Despite the cold temperatures on this day, we are THANKFUL for the spirit of running fun and fitness that took place with our students, families, & faculty! We warmed up by walking, jogging, and running around the school to uplifting music and enjoyed warm apple cider and hot tamales. The students used their new pedometers they received to count their steps and proudly displayed their new fitness "backpack brag tag" for attending the first fitness event of the school year.
In attendance, we had 82 students, 20 parents, and 35 Lincoln Staff members. Teachers and Administration had a lot of fun setting a great example for our students in making fitness important in our lifestyle!!! Lincoln School activated their physical abilities by choosing to walk, run or jog for this 45-minute event with their families after school and enjoying the feelings of this thankful season--- with a commitment to their fitness.
How did you accomplish your goals?
Students predicted how many laps they would be able to walk, jog, or run during this event. They wrote their goals on turkey feathers during P.E. class to display in the gym. Students also counted their steps with their new pedometers that they received for attending the event. They will continue to set daily goals because with their new fitness tool.
