Literacy Night Recipe Station
At our family literacy night we decided to incorporate our new smoothie bike that we just won. We had a family recipe station. Students got to work with their family members to create a family recipe book where they can log recipes that they get from relatives. We also wanted to share a new healthy recipe with families so that they could add it to their new recipe book. We had fresh fruit and milk available so families could try out the new smoothie bike. At the end of the night we raffled off an Arizona Cardinals football to one of the lucky families that attended. It was a great night, students and parents got to give our new smoothie bike a spin!!!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Parents and students worked together to create the family recipe books as well as take turns on the smoothie bike to create a new healthy smoothie.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We worked with our food service department within the district to get all the ingredients we needed for the recipe. We also had all the papers ready for families to create their recipe book.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We want to try our best to incorporate our smoothie bike into other subject areas. We have several family nights throughout the year and we are going to try to use our new smoothie bike at every single one. Our upcoming events include math night and science night.
