Longfellow had its Fuel Up Kick Off on August 19th. Our Kindergarten, Grades 1,2 and 3 got fired up with a visit from Viktor to kick off the morning. In the afternoon we had stations in which our grades 3,4 and 5 participated. The stations were run by Longfellow Alumni Football and Basketball players, RCTC Volleyball team and District nutritional services staff. Students in Grade 3,4 and 5 also signed a pledge to eat healthy and move 60 minutes per day.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our goal was to get our school moving and learn about healthy eating. We accomplished both those goals. Viktor program taught our K,1,2,3 grades about getting active 60 minutes a day and eating healthy, including eating or drinking dairy everyday. The afternoon featured activity stations and a nutrition lesson with our school nutritionist. The students played for 90 minutes and participated in the nutrition lesson for 15 minutes. It was a great day to Kick Off our Fuel Up program for the school year.
