Access to Healthy Foods, Physical Activity Participation
When we got started in October with the Marathon Club, we only had 17 students. They would run 2-3 miles a week and always wanted to do more. We have now grown to about 35 students and they have averaged about 4-5 miles a week. We get together twice a week and have about 7-8 who have already completed their first 26 mile marathon. We are so proud of them! I still have students asking to join the Marathon Club which is great. We always encourage our students to be the best and strive for what they want and to stay healthy.
How did you accomplish your goals?
We encouraged the students to reach their goals and go beyond, and they have done so. We have healthy snacks for them after they finish their run and we talk about what things they should be eating, how to keep reaching their goals and never give up. We always encourage them to be the best they can be.
