Access to Healthy Foods, Physical Activity Participation, Teamwork
The Fuel Up to Play 60 committee at Ludington Magnet Middle School wanted to make healthy eating and physical activity more prominent in their hallways and cafeteria. The students designed posters that would be hung in the cafeteria, the food lines and in the hallway to the gym. They are hoping that this will remind kids to chose healthier options, and that sports are not the only way to be active.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
We didn't have amazing support from other students or teachers in the school at first. They didn't want to be part of the program or really understand why it was important. I think after they saw the hard work that the students put into the program and posters, they realized it was a necessary thing and are looking forward to next year.
