In February, the Fuel Up to Play 60 student health leaders teamed up with our fund raising committee to have a community Mac and Cheese/Chili cook-off! We invited members of our community to enter a chili cook-off and we also had a booth to advertise low fat dairy products! We included a Milk Mustache booth, which was a huge hit! Students loved learning about low fat dairy products and tasting yummy milkshakes. We taught them how to make yummy tasting treats that can be made healthy. It was fun to see the student health leaders involve others in their journey of being active and healthy eating. We are excited to see what other fun things we can do at our use with Fuel Up to Play 60!
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Students volunteered to help out at the FUTP 60 booth or to serve tastings of the mac and cheese or chili. They also helped the adults set up and clean up after the event. They learned how to be responsible and be leaders of their school.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
Our goal this year was to educate the students about healthy and yummy choices when it comes to snacks. We will continue to create posters and talk to our classmates about the importance of choosing nutrient rich foods and low fat dairy products!
