Making Miles
We chose to do a Marathon Kids play and received funding to help. A large number of students signed up who have been logging miles all school year, not only for themselves but to show the other students it's fun to stay active and reach for your goals. We meet several times a week and have some students on a local track team to train.  We complete our play by doing a Dandelion Run, which is a local race held for everyone who wants to join. Our school will have our Marathon Kids running and our staff and students who do not run will be cheering on as they complete this play.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

We worked together as a team to help encourage others to not give up but to reach our goal. By working together, we have also had a number of students who want to join us in the Fuel Up to Play 60 program. We recently had a student chosen as a State Ambassador and hope that he will bring valuable tools from the Student Summit to help our program grow.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have seen a larger number of students who get outside and run or walk daily as part of this play

How did you accomplish your goals?

We meant our goals by working together with our PE teachers, coaches and teaching staff to make time available to all students who wanted to participate.
