This year we added the Marathon Kids program to our morning clubs. We have a "Wake-up Club" on Friday mornings that is almost like an open gym, but Marathon Kids gave us a meaningful program for the other days of the week. Our 4th and 5th graders use the morning to get a light to moderate walk/jog in before school. The kids set goals and are spending the entire year to accomplish those goals. Students are proud of what they accomplish and strive for more.
How did you accomplish your goals?
My goals at the start were to have as much participation from my 4th and 5th graders that I was allowed, which was 80 students. I have 80 4th and 5th graders that signed up and are actively participating and trying to accomplish their own goals throughout the year. Being excited about the program and letting the kids know all of the benefits of exercise and physical activity goes a long way.
