Matheny-Withrow Garden/Smoothie Taste Test
I had a pleasant surprise this afternoon! I received an exciting call from Jen Dillman and GEN-H (http://genhkids.org) about an awesome opportunity for Matheny-Wtihrow. GEN-H received a generous donation and because of our outstanding work with health and wellness at Matheny-Withrow, they are going to donate the funds for us to have a garden! This comes at a great time because I was getting ready to complete the Hy-Vee 1 Step Grant Application. We are meeting the 1st week in February to figure out the details. We conducted a smoothie taste test in November. The kids loved it! We did this with the intention of hopefully getting smoothies added to our breakfast menu next school year. We will keep you posted! What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Student Ambassador: I created a Wellness Club that meets once a month. During that time we get on our laptops or iPads and log on the website. We log on and accumulate points.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

How did students and adults work together as a team?

I created a Wellness Club. We meet once a month and get on the website. They are constantly trying to recruit new students to set up an account.
