Access to Healthy Foods, Community Involvement, Physical Activity Participation, Student Leadership, Teamwork
On October 30th 2018, the Student Ambassadors of Team Hoover teamed up with their younger cross town friends from Benjamin Franklin Elementary School and hosted a Family Fitness Night. Team Hoover Ambassadors went out into the community and were able to bring in a fantastic trainer from the local Max Fitness Challenge Gym to help with the Fitness Night. Together, Max Gym and the Student Ambassadors led an hour long work-out for friends and families of Edison Township. After the hour workout, everyone was then invited into the cafeteria for healthy refreshments, yogurt, fresh fruit and a chance to socialize and talk about the importance of FUTP 60 in our schools. The parents, the students, and Max Gym all had an amazing time at this event and were able to schedule follow up events later on in the school year to keep the momentum going.
How did you accomplish your goals?
The students were able to get a local community gym to come into the school and help host the Family Fitness Night with them. Thank you to Max Challenge of Edison!
How did students and adults work together as a team?
The students and the adults organized the event. They worked together to secure a location for the event. They helped buy and make the snacks and refreshments for after the event. Lastly, they worked together to promote the event.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
We plan on continuing our community outreach program by hosting more Fitness Nights and healthy snack nights that will give other local companies a chance to work with or support our team.
