I am working with another staff member to help expand the school's garden. We currently have 4 beds of vegetables and are hoping to increase the number this year! We have had support from 3 families and are hoping to increase the number by opening the garden to the McCleery community. In addition, we hope to offer nutrition and cooking classes to caretakers and students while utilizing the foods that come from our garden.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students and adults are coming together to expand the garden. We are looking to increase the parent involvement with the addition of nutrition and cooking classes.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We have support from University of Illinois Extension's SNAP-Ed. program, as well as some community members who have agreed to help with funding some of our goals with expanding the garden.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We've seen an increase in participation with the garden program! We've also been able to incorporate nutrition education for caretakers, students and staff.
