Meadowbrook Students Getting Involved

Breakfast For Everyone — First Meal Matters
Students were excited to help take care of the PE garden. They had lots of questions regarding what we were growing. Why were we weeding out the garden? When would be the best time to pick the garden for harvest? And when can they eat it? (lol). We had discussion about the type of foods they eat at home or when they go out to a restaurant. Lots of the students just summed it up by saying SALAD! So I would ask them what is in your salad. Why is salad healthy for you? We discussed different food items students can try in their salad such as beets, cucumbers, cranberries and nuts.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students enjoyed working together by telling each other where they were going start pulling weeds and to ask the coaches "Is this a weed or veggie before I pull it?"

How did you accomplish your goals?

I accomplished this goal by telling students what to look for and if they had questions, please ask,

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The challenges I faced were weather, bugs and ants.
