Physical Activity Participation
Mileage Club

Two days a week, all students are encouraged to be physically active at recess by participating in Mileage Club. With the help of our PTA, students receive cards that track individual distances. Students have motivators at the individual, classroom and school level. Spirit days occur throughout the month in order to motivate students and get them more active at recess. Parent volunteers come to encourage and track student progress. This program takes place for an entire month, with the Kickoff being right around ACES day.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have witnessed more students being physically active while they wait to come in and eat lunch instead of just sitting and waiting in line. The PTA obtained some very popular dog tag necklaces that students earn by completing the equivalent to a 5K and then earn additional toe tokens to put on the necklaces. Even if it is only five laps, students are being more active at recess!
