Access to Healthy Foods, Physical Activity Participation
We held our annual pumpkin run at Richmond Elementary, where families come and run one mile together around our playground. After they complete their one mile, they go on a pumpkin hut to find the pumpkin with their name on it. My Fuel Up to Play 60 team held a milk taste test. We had white, chocolate and strawberry samples for everyone in the family to try. The winner of the taste test was the strawberry milk.
How did students and adults work together as a team?
Our staff sent out the flyers to get the event participation, but the students were the ones who put all the pumpkins out and set up the taste test booth for families to try different flavors of milk.
How did you accomplish your goals?
My FUTP 60 team came together and were the leaders of the activity once I got the supplies for them. They set up the taste test table and made signs for each item.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
We are making this Play last throughout the year by having different dairy taste tests.
