The Fuel Up to Play 60 team hosted a smoothie taste test. We made two types of fruit smoothies and had the taste test the night of parent teacher conferences.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The students planned the event at our weekly meetings and made posters. They each did different jobs and rotated between them during the taste test.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

To extend beyond the event night, we are offering the use of the new blender for classroom smoothies during the school year. A teacher can use the smoothies as an incentive when goals are reached by their class. We are also opening up the use of the blender to classrooms by parent for smoothie birthday treats instead of cookies and cupcakes.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Challenges were: 1) Getting the right amount of food. We estimated the amount based on how many families were going to attend conferences 2) Having all the equipment and supplies we needed to do the taste test. We thought of how we would run it and wrote a list based on actually making the smoothies.
