Monitoring for a Stronger Heart

Our FUTP 60 students are working on how different physical activity exercises impact their heart rate. The goal of the activity is for the students to stay in their target heart rate during their exercise. We repeat this activity every 3 weeks in the hopes that the students will improve their heart rate and make their heart stronger. The students also discuss the importance of nutritious food and how what they put in their bodies directly affect their physical performance. Finally, we are including math in the session when students are trying to figuring their heart rate.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The FUTP 60 students continued to show improvement with their heart rate every time. This encouraged the students to continue to want to do the activities and check if their heart rate was getting stronger. I am really excited that this has been such a success and hope to continue throughout the rest of the year!
