This story is about Washington MSI in Midland, Texas. We are a Title 1 Magnet School and we have an after-school program available to all students. One of our goals this year was to provide more oppurtunities for movement in that program. With that goal, we have added a Friday Running Club, Color Guard, Motor Development, Cup Stacking, and Ballroom Dancing. These are all newly developed classes that formed because of our mission. The only class we previously offered was Sports Science (PE) class.

How did you accomplish your goals?

This was all accomplished with communication and administrative support.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are starting to see benefits and the kids seem to be enjoying their time in these classes, so I do not think it will be hard to convince teachers.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

I have seen more kids staying for the after-school program and all the kids are enjoying it.
