Physical Activity Participation
Teachers are given monthly exercises to complete each day. Teachers compete with other classes on their grade level. Each time a class completes a set of exercises they receive a point on their score card. Score cards are placed on the wall outside the gym, and on their way to eat lunch, teachers place their points on the scorecard. Students have been very excited to see who our monthly winners will be for each month. Classes that win receive homework passes along with a special prize from the PE teacher.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

This Play has been very successful, and here at Walkertown I plan on continuing this Play for the rest of the school year and into the future.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The biggest obstacle for this Play is getting all classroom teachers on board with daily brain breaks. One way I plan on increasing participation next year is for teachers to receive some type of pass for their hard work with their students.

How did you accomplish your goals?

One way I accomplished my goal of this Play is to make sure students and teachers were able to see their progress compared to the rest of the school and their grade level. The friendly competition has really encouraged teachers to stay active with their students.
