We hosted the 2nd annual National School Breakfast Event on March 8th in celebration of National School Breakfast Week. During this morning event, we handed out smoothies and oatmeal energy bites along with the recipes for both. All students were then able to take photos with the UTTC macot, Thunder, in the "I Love Breakfast" photo booth. Fellow students helped hand out breakfast stickers to all the elementary schools eating breakfast that morning. Prior to the event, we sent letters home with all students encouraging their parents to come eat breakfast with the kids that morning. We reached approximately 80 students and about 10 parents joined their kids for breakfast. We plan on having this event every year and to work with FUTP 60 to make the event better and better every year.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Majority of the work was done by adults, but students did help with handing out stickers and helping hand out props for the photo booth.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our goal was accomplished by educating students on picking healthy breakfast items and that it doesn't have to be hard or time consuming.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

The biggest challenge is getting students to help with the work of setting it up because of other time commitments. Student also would rather participate in the event instead of helping. The stickers was an easy task for kids to do.
