New Equipment, Activities and Signage Motivates our Students
Students were re-introduced to FUTP 60 with our annual kickoff event, "Back to Football Friday". Students were educated on good eating choices, activities to stay active, football, and playing 60 minutes every day. They also partook in dancing and art work, designing their own food plate and football coloring sheet. Students were asked for suggestions on new equipment and activities that could be offered. We purchased a wide array of fitness, sports equipment, signs, games, and prizes to extend the PE and Healthy eating initiatives. Students were taught how their skills and fitness applied to their own strengths and areas of improvement. Concepts were introduced to show students how to apply them to their own communities and lives. Student motivation, curiosity, participation, knowledge and enjoyment increased. This led to an improved and extended learning environment, while including students with disabilities and students that were unsure of their own abilities. Contests and games engaged students year-round, which encouraged our students to be excited about exercise and eating well.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Student knowledge and motivation to participate in activities has increase across all age and ability groups. The environment has become more health conscious and inviting. Students encourage and educate one another to improve their own fitness and are making connections to their own community, families, and lifestyles.
