Physical Activity Participation, Success with Funds, Teamwork
This year, our school applied for and received a Fuel Up to Play 60 grant. Our school’s goal, to create an atmosphere where students of all abilities participate in physical activity, was aided by the grant. We will be using the funds to buy four new elliptical machines for our weight room. We will also be using funds to create a smoothie bar option for our students, faculty and staff as a healthy breakfast and lunch option.
In line with our school goal, our district had created new specific pathway courses for our students this year. One course run by our physical education department called, “Yes to a Healthy Lifestyle,” has taken the lead in getting our students involved in Fuel Up to Play 60! This course teaches students different training techniques, nutritional plans, and how to create a personal workout plan tailored to each student. Working with Fuel Up to play 60 has been a wonderful experience and our staff and students are on their way to living a healthier life!

How did you accomplish your goals?
By receiving our grant money, we will be able to update our workout room by adding 4 elliptical machines.
How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?
Our new workout equipment and smoothie bar will be available for students to use this year and in the future. We will continue to run our new pathway courses and with each new semester, introduce our goals to a new group of students.
