New Students Getting the Word Out

Students in 4th and 5th grade at Edmunds Elementary in Des Moines, Iowa, have been working hard to tell others about the benefits of Fuel Up to Play 60! This is their first year in the program and they have already shown a growth in leadership skills and physical activity minutes. I always make my first assignment an easy one: Make posters to hang up in our school! We have had so many students running off the bus in the morning holding signs and being extremely proud of the work they have done. This program has already made a difference in my gym and in the classrooms at Edmunds. Students are beginning to take ownership of the program and see the benefits of challenging their friends to sign up and eat healthy/be active.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Improvements in their ownership of health and wellness and leadership skills. There is a huge accountability aspect when it comes to being an Ambassador for our school!
