Physical Activity Participation
Our school started their physical education classes last year. At that time, we found out about Fuel Up to Play 60 and we integrated it into the curriculum. The students were excited about the autographed items that were sent to them last year. This year the students are even more into the program. They have tripled the amount of challenges they are completing and they are hoping this year to attend the Summit. We have tripled the amount of students that have joined as Ambassadors and are coming up with plans to challenge not only the PE class in the upcoming Challenges but also the entire school. We wanted to thank Fuel Up to Play 60 in helping us take pride in living healthy.
What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
Our challenges are that not only are we a small school but we are a small low income school. We have few students that are willing to take the challenge of eating right because they are just worried about getting food, so they eat whatever they can. The other MAJOR challenge is that we do not have physical activity areas on our school campus. We have no fields or even a basketball court to encourage them to go out and play.
