Access to Healthy Foods

This year, our food services staff decided to introduce a new incentive for students to eat their fruits and veggies. One of the food service members draws pictures of fruits and veggies in character form. Students are then able to submit names that make sense for that food type. The student body places votes on their favorite name, and at the end of the week the food services staff announces the winning name. Pretty neat idea if you ask me!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

I've noticed an uptick in students eating the fruits and veggies provided for them at breakfast and lunch. Also, more students have been bringing snacks that are healthier (i.e. the fruits and veggies that have been named!) It's really catching on!
