My Fuel Up to Play 60 students at Grahamwood Elementary School (Memphis, TN) worked hard and diligently over the span of 3 weeks in small groups to create their own health and nutrition projects based on the food groups. Each group was assigned a food group and had to make a visual presentation and provide samples for their table in the cafeteria. The FUTP 60 students spent all morning in the cafeteria presenting their projects to students, teachers, parents and administrators that toured their tables. The students researched their food group and were prepared to answer questions and engage in dialogue with anyone that came to their table.
What improvements have you seen at your school?
I've seen major increases in student's participation in wanting to create a healthier and more active school! My FUTP 60 team has taken on the leadership and advocate role and motivated their peers to make important decisions regarding their health and physical activity.
