Nutritional Food Taste Testing at Our Science Family Night

We had a Science Family Night at our school which included science experiments and looking through high powered telescopes. At the Science Night, we taste tested Baja Bean Dip with tortilla chips. We had a great turn out of families, and many of the families took home healthy recipes including the Baja Bean Dip recipe. The "My Plate" model as well as other important nutritional information was distributed to families. Thanks to Fuel Up to Play 60 we were able to provide food and supplies for the taste testing.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have seen an increase in parent involvement at our Family Nights and parents and families who are very excited to learn about new recipes and nutritional foods. They look forward to what we will serve each family night. Many parents have mentioned how happy they are that we encourage and teach kids about eating right and exercising. It is just so important for kids!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan to get assistance from University of AZ Nutrition Network, PTO, and our families.
