We had an awesome experience with the Ogle Running Club this year! We had over 80 students participate and it has really helped these students have an increased desire to participate in physical fitness. It has been so successful that we are hoping to add another meeting day next year to accommodate more students.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are continuing to to meet this year and have offered students opportunities to run in events outside of school. Next year we will be looking at adding some extra days to help encourage growth of the Running Club. We also offered the club to teachers and that has been a success!

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have noticed an increased desire to participate in physical fitness. I have also noticed students who participate in the Running Club have better endurance and are more inclined to give their best effort on physical fitness assessments such as Fitnessgram.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We were able to accomplish our goals by using a true team mentality. My assistants stay after school and help lead a grade so that we can give more personal attention and feedback to our students. Our administration has also been very supportive of our program by helping cover after school duties for us so that we can have the Running Club. Finally, our parents have been supportive by encouraging our members to exercise outside of school.
