Physical Activity Participation

We have been running a mileage club for five years. We've had many successes, and here's one story that comes to mind. At our Kickoff event, a parent of a former club member thanked us for getting their child involved with running on the track. Due to her participation in Mileage Club, she has joined her middle school's cross country team and is excelling in her new activity. Something else we are very proud of is that we have over half the school participating along with family members and siblings in our Mileage Club.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We are starting Mileage Club on April 4th. It takes place after school 3 days a week plus noon recess.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

Over time we have had more parent involvement.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We give out incentives for each 5 miles walked or ran. We also work with Subway to recognize walking or running 50 miles. Our PTO also helps with healthy snacks.
