Cocopah’s Fuel Up Club started our Mustang Marathon Miler Movement during the second quarter. Participants would receive a pedometer on meeting days and track how many miles they walk or ran during that designated period. The pedometers would be submitted at the end of the session and recorded on the Marathon Miles Progress Marking sheet to the Program Advisor/club advisers. Milers' progress sheets were updated after each Mustang Marathon Miler activity time (color coded). Mustang Milers were recognized for their progress and reaching various benchmarks. Marathon Kids encourages participants to walk or run the equivalent of four marathons. Due to our second quarter start of the Mustang Marathon Miler Movement we are taking BABY STEPS in the number of marathons individuals will achieve this year.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Our school district eliminated the mini-period after lunch that we had planned to designate two days to tracking walking or running during that time. We decided to change our initial plan and participate after school. We also started in October due to the weather (heat) and other factors.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Mustang Milers worked with the Program Advisor to track miles in a user-friendly format, supervision, motivation / incentives.
