The PACE Pals are a group of 4th grade students that support our special scholars during their PACE (Physical and Creative Enrichment) classes each day. During the PACE classes, which include library, art, music and physical education, the PACE Pals support our special scholars and help them to feel included and successful in everything the other students are doing. In the gym, I have seen an increase in the participation of our special scholars. The PACE Pals work side-by-side to make sure our special scholars work hard during our warm-up exercises, skill work and fun games.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

The teacher/aide for our special students helps our PACE Pals understand some of our special scholars and how to support their needs.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Our counselor is going to provide our PACE Pals with some specialized training on how to work with their Pal. We then plan on having the PACE Pals go to the specials class to assist with their Pal in their class setting.
