Our school is in its first year of the FUTP 60 en espanol program, and since it has started there have been many positive changes in our school environment. Our school offered the 100 mile club before the school day. We get together in the morning and walk or jog around the school then come in and have a healthy breakfast together. In addition, our school teaches us Bike Safety through our PE classes. Applying for the grant has helped to provide our students with a variety of food during breakfast. For example, at least three different fruits and only nonfat or low-fat milk each day are offered. Our FUTP student team promoted the benefits of 60 minutes per day of physical activity and eating healthy to other students in school by creating posters to display around the school. Next year I hope we can improve by doing more to involve families and the community. I would also like to write announcements for our TV news. So more students will be aware of the improtance of activity and well as healthy eating. We can also announce community events that would allow students and families to get active and healthy. I would like to thank the dairy farmers and the Dairy Council of Florida for this amazing opportunity for our students and our school community.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Our school offered the 100 mile club before school followed by having breakfast together.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Next year we will continue this program. We will have the resources from FUTP 60. We also have the support of our PTSA.
