On February 24th we had a parent fitness night, inviting all our parents and their children (6th - 8th graders). In addition we teamed up with Ben Franklin parents and FUTP 60 members. The event included 16 workout stations, music and light refreshments afterwards. Some members created smoothies for sample tasting. The event did offer parents and students the opportunity to work out together and show off their middle school gym.

How did you accomplish your goals?

The FUTP 60 students came up with stations, and a Google form was created and pushed out by the building principal. Students advertised by putting up flyers around the building to generate awareness of the upcoming event. A team approach was used by combining the talents of two schools, Herbert Hoover Middle School and Ben Franklin Elementary School. In the end we had approximately 50-60 parents come and enjoy a fitness night in the HHMS gym.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Meetings were held usually once a week or sometimes every other week. Students created brochures for advertisement and aided in setting up stations the night of the event.
