Perez Elementary wins biggest team at the Capitol 10k
Led by two teachers, students and teachers trained for a 6.2 mile race. At the race, students and teachers were awarded with a trophy for having the biggest elementary team at the race.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

2 months before the 10k two teachers co-captained leading practices. Students and teachers would run together on these early mornings training for running 6.2 miles. We were the biggest team and most likely the fastest elementary team at the race.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

One really awesome improvement is that students are really excited to keep running more races. They are in love with the sport of running.

How did you accomplish your goals?

We accomplished our goals by keeping our students motivated. We would tell them that they could listen to music when they ran and they thought that was pretty cool. They were also motivated by seeing teachers coming to practice to run with them.
