Pilot Breakfast in the Classroom

Offered breakfast in a 3rd grade classroom that had a high number of children not eating before they started class due to arriving late or not eating at home.

How did you accomplish your goals?

School Wellness committee helped in decisionmaking on what kind of pilot we would have set up equipment in Feb, started in March - had cooperation of cafeteria admin

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

advocate for staff who want it in the classroom, still optional, but hoping that attitudes will change as teachers see how helpful it is.

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

Staff openly hostile to Breakfast in the Classroom, feeling that this was opposed to teachers' interests. Stand my ground that I got approvals needed, the teachers who wanted it, got it- so we would proceed based on the basis of the grant requirements meant that I would complete what I started. By simply persisting, the complaints died down and hopefully the issues were clearly seen as bluster they were.
