Student Leadership

I surveyed all of the 4th and 5th grade teachers in our building about who they thought were excellent leaders in their classrooms. I used that knowledge in conjunction with the knowledge of who I thought were excellent leaders in physical education to select a group of nominees. I sent each nominee an anonymous letter telling them a date and time to meet "someone" in the library and that they couldn't tell anyone else besides their teacher what they were doing. I was there in the library to welcome all of the nominees that showed enough responsibility to make it to the meeting on their own without any reminders to our school's Fuel Up to Play 60 student leadership team for the year.

How did you accomplish your goals?

I met with the classroom teachers in order to make sure that we were selecting students that could handle the extra responsibilities of being on the team without it impacting their school work or attitude.
