Breakfast – Grab and Go!

We are a small elementary school in rural TN. Nothing was available for students who arrived late or who were running behind and missed the opportunity to eat in the cafeteria. With the Fuel Up to Play 60 grant, we were able to purchase items needed to implement a Grab and Go Breakfast. Parents are pleased this is offered for their children who are running behind and/or late. Breakfast and dairy consumption has increased and it is our desire for it to continue to grow. Thanks for making a difference at our school!

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Pirate Players enjoyed encouraging their peers to "fuel up" by eating breakfast everyday.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

With funds, we were able to purchase items needed to provide a Grab and Go Breakfast. We have seen a good increase in breakfast consumption and hope to see more.

What improvements have you seen at your school?

We have seen an increase in the number of breakfast participants as well as a dairy increase. We hope to see it continue to grow.
