Here at McLaughlin Middle School, Fuel Up to Play 60 students are working diligently to plan a school-wide Health Fair. Students and their Program Advisor hosted one last year and are thrilled to create an even bigger, better, and more organized event this upcoming June. For example, the Health Club students have started fostering connections with local businesses, corporations, and professional individuals related to health, fitness, or wellness and invite them be a part of their Health Fair. They hope to have topics such as nutrition, mental health, individualized physical activity, and more covered at the fair. They envision each grade in the school having their own block to come down to Health Fair and meet the vendors, enter into giveaways, and participate in activities. It’s a work in progress, and health club students will continue to work on securing vendors, prizes, and the nitty-gritty of planning this big event.

How did students and adults work together as a team?

Students and adults are working together to brainstorm a comprehensive list of vendors in the community to support the diversity of this Health Fair. Each person brings to a unique skill set to the table when planning this event!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

The first Health Fair was last year and this year we are working to make it more organized and incorporate new and exciting ideas. We hope to build on it each year so that it becomes part of the community and culture of Mclaughlin Middle School.
