Playground Celebration
Last summer we had a playground renovation done through a grant we received from the Colorado Health Foundation. After school started in the fall we wanted to invited everyone to see the new playground and introduce it to the community. We had a community celebration with student's and their families and community members. We recognized all those that made the new playground possible. Then we got the party started. We played music, and handed out a healthy snack, and played! Since then our playground gets used all the time by student's and their families and the community. There is always someone enjoying it in the evenings and weekends. We wanted to open up the space for everyone to enjoy. We added a walking path around the perimeter so parent can walk and be active while still watching their children.

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

Our playground is open for use anytime. Not just during school hours. Our city recreation department uses our facilities for their programs. So while siblings are participation in city rec programs, others can use the playground instead of sitting. It's been a great partnership.
