Students at Elm Creek ran in our annual Pumpkin Run during Halloween week. The students in each grade level run a predetermined course with a set time for each grade level. If the students complete the course within the time frame, they go into a drawing for a large pumpkin and other Fuel Up to Play 60 prizes. One girl and one boy from each class wins the pumpkins! This year we also included our Farm to School theme. The Elm Creek wellness team did research and came up with pumpkin facts that were shared with our student body over morning announcements. We are also having a family-favorite pumpkin recipe contest. Yum yum! The pumpkin Run has been great fun with the Farm to School additions!

How do you plan to make this Play last during the school year and beyond?

We plan on having taste tests, recipe contests, and a dairy farmer visit our school to present "life as a dairy farmer."

What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?

It rained one of our two days of running. With a few minor adjustments, we were able to complete the run in the gym.

How did you accomplish your goals?

Everyone that completed the run went into a drawing for the pumpkins and FUTP 60 prizes.
